Internships
Action Against Hunger looks for interns and volunteers to assist us at our headquarters in New York on an ongoing basis as needed. Internships are unpaid but we cover lunch expenses and transit fare.
Action Against Hunger welcomes international applicants. However, we cannot assist international interns with finding housing or acquiring visas. Please note: we do not offer field internships.
Types of Internships
Internships at headquarters are varied, depending on our needs at the time. All internships usually include some basic administrative work such as data management, filing, etc.
External Relations
The Communications Intern will assist with projects designed to help promote Action Against Hunger’s humanitarian work and messages through the press and various public media. S/he will also be involved in newsletters; school outreach and advocacy research.
The Multimedia Library Intern will help the External Relations Department organize videos and other digital media that document Action Against Hunger’s lifesaving work around the world. The intern will help build a library of resources that can be easily used for faster responses to breaking news, and richer content for educational efforts, online fundraising, and outreach purposes.
The Fundraising Intern will assist with the direct mail campaign, maintaining and updating the donor database, donor correspondence and research and analysis, as well as any special projects or events that are currently taking place.
Human Resources
The Human Resources Intern will support the recruitment and administration activities of the Human Resources Staff. S/he will learn about Action Against Hunger’s recruitment strategies and help develop and/or manage HR tools and resources.
Operations
The Operations Intern will assist the Operations staff with research, report editing, writing and other tasks involved with the countries and programs that the office manages. The scope and focus of the research depend on Action Against Hunger's needs at the time, as well as the intern's background.
