The State of Hunger in Honduras

Malnutrition, poverty, and maternal and infant mortality are all high in Honduras, especially in rural and indigenous areas. Climate disasters have also increased unemployment and extreme poverty.

Public safety, migration, drug trafficking, education and poor access to clean water and basic sanitation are some of the challenges facing Hondurans. Many live below the poverty line, making them highly vulnerable to seasonal hunger and food shortages.

How We're Helping in Central America

Action Against Hunger coordinates a dozen international and local NGOs to provide food assistance to thousands of people across Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. In the wake of natural disasters, we improve access to clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene.
